#104, 1844 folded cover without contents from E.W. Bull (Hartford) to J.L.L. Warren, Boston, red "Forwarded By Hale & Co From Hartford" oval handstamp

Position 2 adhesive with manuscript "West" precancel, genuine use on letter, ex Chapman, Caspary, Conland and Frajola (Rumsey auction #8)

#103, undated (Spring 1845) folded letter of E.W. Bull (Hartford) to J.L.L. Warren, Boston being a list of seeds (not able to send this Spring), red "Forwarded By Hale & Co From Hartford" oval handstamp

Position 8 adhesive with manuscript "West" precancel, genuine use on letter, ex Boker and Stern, Conland

#109, Jun 23, 1845 folded letter of Thomas Welles, Hartford to Elihu Geer in Boston, pencil postage 2c" at top for delivery in Boston

Position 5 adhesive with manuscript "East" cancel, genuine use on letter, PF cert, ex Conland

#101, June 23, 1845 docket on reverse of partial letter without place or date indication, address inked through, partial strike "Hale & Company Worcester Mail

red oval, note sending a bill of goods for merchandise ordered by addressee for NP Thomas to be "forwarded to Worcester to the care of Nor. & Wor. RR,"

Position 9 adhesive (unused) with faked "East" manuscript and "Paid 2" notations, stamp apparently original to letter, ex Harrison Sanford (from Scott Stamp & Coin), Redfield, Taylor and Stern, Conland

#102, January 6, 1845 folded letter of John H. Butler dated at "Retreat for the Insane, Hartford" addressed to William Bliss, New York (a class-mate)

Position 5 adhesive (close up of stamp area  here) with manuscript "West" that does not appear to be original to letter (likely a substitute for a yellow stamp), ex Hunter (Scott auction of 1/2/08) to Worthington, ex Worthington (10/25/17) to Henry Redfield, and ex Stern, Conland

#110, (January 25, 1845) folded letter of Sigourney & Son, Hartford to Joseph Goddard, New York, endorsed "Hale's Express Paid" at left, stamp is a replacement for the original yellow adhesive that was on it (see census of yellow stamps on cover)

Position 11 adhesive, faulty, appears not to be original to letter (likely a substitute for a yellow stamp), clean PF cert as genuine, Conland

#105, stamp did not originate on this postally used folded cover to Providence with "Steamer 5" handstamp

Position 11 adhesive (genuine) with manuscript "West" precancel, ex Stern, Conland

 

#107, (Tapling Collection at British Museum) stamp did not originate (used to New York City)

Position 3 adhesive (incorrectly identified as Type IV on cover) with manuscript "W(est)"  (not seen by compiler)

 

#108, (Sloane Records) stamp almost certainly did not originate (used to Mullicahill, NJ)

Position 7 adhesive with manuscript "W(est)?"  (not seen by compiler)
