Production information:
Two plates of 150 were used for the one franc. Plate one had tęte-bęche cliché at position 35. This plate was used to print the carmine browns. A total of 260 thousand stamps were printed including only 1700 errors. The "barbiche" variety (with beard) is a printing flaw that developed in the latest stage of the plate. A close up of the pair with right stamp showing the variety is here.
