Captured Patriotic, Confederate seven star flag patriotic (Dietz #F7-16) with manuscript notation "Captured at Jackson Miss May 14 63" at side (the date Jackson, Mississippi fell), entered the mails to Iowa with 3c rose (#65) tied by indistinct postmark, cover minor reduction at right and small tear, substantially more rare than US patriotic covers used in the Confederacy

Thirteen Star Excelsior Flag patriotic cover used with 3c rose pink (#64b, straddle copy) tied by blue cancel, matching "Louisville Ky Dec 17 1861" postmark, it has been suggested that the 13 star flag may represent Kentucky as a CSA state (admitted December 9, 1861), illustrated in Wishnewski book on Confederate patriotics, the only reported example, extremely fine $2,500

Home Made Cover fashioned from a printed form and used shortly after the end of the war with 3c rose (#65, faulty) tied by grid cancel, matching "Fayetteville NC" double circle postmark with manuscript "Oct 12 1865" date, this is the same postmark device used in CSA period but without date slugs, extremely fine North Carolina $500
