1862 Issue Introduction

The first postage stamp issue of Antigua was a six pence stamp. It was engraved and printed by Perkins, Bacon & Company. The stamp was issued for use towards payment of the one shilling packet rate from Antigua to Great Britain.

The Proofs section includes information about the various proofs, reprints, and sample sheets. Trial Perforations section includes the trials which are incorrectly listed in Stanley Gibbons. The Issued Stamps sections shows mint and used examples. The Forgeries section includes the crude Spiro Brothers forgery. For six pence constant plate varieties, hit link on navigation bar at top of this page.
