Usage To England, 1869 cover addressed to U.S. Ship Richmond to the care of BF Stevens, 12c black "F" grill (#97) tied, red "Boston Paid" exchange and London Paid arrival, red "United States Despatch Agent, BF Stevens London Jun 5 1869" oval forwarding handstamp, carried out of the mails to the  Richmond which was touring the Mediterranean at the time, very fine


Usage To France, 1868 tissue paper cover to Paris, double rate prepaid with 12c black "F" grill (#97), 15c black (#77) and 3c rose "E" grill (#88), purple "Philadelphia Paid 12 Jul 21" exchange datestamp, blue French entry and 1868 arrival backstamp, cover edge wrinkles, fine combination $650

Usage To Italy, 1869 cover to Rome, pair 2c black "E" grills (#87, straddle margin at left) tied in combination with 3c rose (#65, faulty) and 12c black (#69, faulty) by red cancels, matching "Baltimore Md Feb 26" postmark, 19c North German Union Closed Mail rate, red "New York Paid All Br Transit Feb 27" and "5" credit, exchange backstamp, red "Verviers Coeln Franco" transit and "PP" handstamp, Verona transit and Rome arrival backstamps, cover edge faults, ex Allen and illustrated in Lane book,  $750
