rate, red "London Paid JU 27 64" transit, Insuffy
Stamped Via Marseilles two line handstamp apparently applied in error
as the "Via Marseilles" rate was 53c but the "40"
credit was the correct credit for 45c rate "Via Southampton",
blue "Hong Kong AU 18 64" arrival backstamp without any
additional due, very fine |

Usage To Panama, cover
from New Haven, Connecticut to Consul Bradley at Panama, originally posted
with single 3c rose (#65) tied by "Feb 9" duplex postmark with
manuscript "Due 7" at left to make up correct rate, mail to
Panama required prepayment in full so cover was held, additional franking
of 2c black (#73) and 5c brown (#76) was added and tied by geometric
cancels, matching "New Haven Con Feb 10" postmark, an extremely
fine and attractive usage |
