Fakes & Forgeries

The are only a few forgeries of Antigua stamps. There are, however some dangerous fakes. This page will cover all of the fakes and forgeries in one place.

Forgeries Of "Jeens" Head Design

Forgeries Of Victoria Key Plate Design

Fake Imperforates

 antfakeA.jpg (15712 bytes)antfakeB.jpg (19694 bytes)

These are faked imperforates. The one penny lilac-rose was made by applying a fake cancel on a plate proof (1863). The six pence yellow-green at right was apparently made from a similar plate proof of the 1863 issue (it bears a 1920 Royal Philatelic Society certificate stating that it is a genuine imperforate variety).

Fake Bisects

 antfakeC.jpg (40414 bytes)

These fake one penny bisects are very convincing. Note however that they all bear the same fake cancel of "July 29 1889".

 antfakeH.jpg (54432 bytes)

This fake has three different one penny stamps. It purports to be a bisect usage paying 2 1/2d rate. All cancels except "A02" at far left are fake. A genuine example of the 2 1/2 d. rate paid with a one penny bisect may be seen here.
